The year is off to a great start!
On behalf of our coordinator, Sherry Adams, and co-coordinator, Rick Vaughn, welcome to Honors and awesome new school year! As I begin this fall semester as the Honors Program Advisor I am filled with excitement as I experience many ‘firsts’ like many of you are doing.
So….bear with me as I cover everything in this lengthy, yet crucial, Monday Update.
Presidents' Scholars:
If you did not attend the orientation on August 20, it is mandatory that you make a 15 minute appointment with me to formally sign your scholarship contract. Appointment times available are 10:20am, 12:10pm and 4:40pm. Please call or email what day and time you would like to come in (please do not just walk-in). In addition, if your tuition amount is over your scholarship award, you must pay the difference immediately. Visit your account at my.maricopa.edu.
Returning Honors Fee Waiver Students:
Just a reminder that the Fee Waiver application must be submitted each semester…it does not roll-over from semester to semester. Deadline for these applications is Sept 19. The link to the Tuition Waiver is on the left.
Honors Project Classes:
If you are converting a class into an Honors Projects Class you can download the contract from the Honors web page. Please discuss the project with your instructor and turn the contract (link on the left) into the Honors Office by Sept. 19. Classes cannot be converted after this date. Please do not jeopardize your Honors status/scholarship by procrastinating.

There, he researched early African history. Since coming to the United States in 1966, he has specialized in communicating archeology to lay audiences. He became Professor of Anthropology at the University of California, Santa Barbara, in 1967 and retired in 2003. His more than 40 books about archeology and history include The Rape of the Nile, and The Adventure of Archeology, the latter written for the National Geographic Society. He has written four books on climate change and the past, among them The Little Ice Age and, most recently, The Great Warming.
