Quality Service Culture

Examples of Learning Goals for the
Quality Service Culture
Values

Efficiency:

I will read and become familar with my department’s guidelines and model this behavior for other employees.

I will attend the new employee orientation session and learn how to aceess the resources I will need to do my job well (i.e. MEMO and voicemail training) .

Caring:

I will learn more information about other cultures so I can better understand and honor views of others which may differ from mine. I will treat others with respect, as I wish to be treated (i.e., diversity training, discussion forums).

I will receive training in providing clearer communications to others.

Learning:

I will learn about college resources available in other areas to better help customers learn how to solve problems and/or create opportunities by informing them of college resources that are available to them (i.e., help with Welcome Week or Student Orientation,).

I will learn how to create interesting and informative presentations to present ideas to others (i.e., desktop publishing with MS Word, or Powerpoint).

I will assess my learning needs and seek appropriate types of opportunities which are relevant to my job, help provide me with new skills and meaningful learning, and give me skills and knowledge to help me better serve our students and colleagues (i.e., Quality Service Culture workshops, and Learning Week's Sessions).

Supporting:

I will learn and participate in the "Organizational Learning" of the college by participating in college discussions and forums designed for that purpose (i.e., the President's Advance, Learning Weeks, and Technology Training Sessions).

I will learn to feel comfortable with making planning and budgeting suggestions to my supervisor and will look at what other areas are doing to see where we can better support each other in planning, budgeting, and service issues and areas (i.e., learn to use APB - PVCC's Automated Planning & Budgeting system).

Connecting:

I will seek contact with customers to determine if I can be of service to them.

I will seek contact with colleagues from other areas of the campus and learn more about their areas and of opportunities to connect, share resources, or build team-based ideas for the college.

I will attend appropriate workshops, conferences, or other types sessions which will help broaden my understanding and knowledge base and allow me to make new connections to maintain that broader perspective.
