Institute/Session
Summary:
Technology should not get in the way of teaching and learning. Yet, sometimes in trying to incorporate references to web sites to illustrate a point, the lack of access to the web or long wait time interrupts the flow of learning. Students lose attention and the point may be lost.
This session will demonstrate an easy way to capture web resources, so that they can be shown offline. This process captures the graphics and all the links selected. The benefit of this process is that the presentation can then be enlarged for easier viewing in a large classroom or presentation hall.
By using such a process, technology supports the learning and does not get in the way of learning.
The learning outcomes for this session:
Participants will be able to:
- describe how to integrate web information into a lecture and/or training without actually being online.
- describe the process of capturing a web site to their local drive in two easy steps.
- identify the software needed to capture web pages.
Handouts will include samples of web sites offline, the DIY (do it yourself) steps needed to complete this process along with screen shots, showing the steps themselves.
Interactive discussion will include when and why we should use this process. Participants will be able to suggest web sites to try this process on and see the results live.
