Fall Registration Date Change
The first day of Fall Registration 2009 has been changed to accommodate Spring Break. Registration for fall classes will begin on Monday, March 23, not March 18.

The President’s Open Door Schedule
Interim President Paul Dale invites you to stop by his office for informal conversation, lively discussion or just to let him know what is going on in your class or department. No appointment is necessary. The current schedule includes Tuesday, Jan. 27, from 2 to 3:30 p.m.; Monday, Feb. 9, from 8:30 to 10 a.m.; and Friday, Feb. 27, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Young Democrats Host Inauguration Day Event
The PVCC Young Democrats Club is hosting a student/staff gathering to view the Presidential Inaugural Parade and Ceremony, beginning at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 20 in the KSC Student Union. Watch as former Senator Barack Obama takes the oath of Office and becomes the 44th President of the United States.

In Fall 2008, the Student Life Center, in partnership with Rock the Vote, registered more than 100 new voters for the presidential election. The Young Democrats assisted new registrants, helping them to complete needed forms. According to the Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement, 23 million 18- to 29-year-olds voted on Election Day 2008, the most young voters ever to cast ballots in a presidential election. This is an increase of three million, compared with the 2004 election.

Mata Ortiz Pottery Demonstration, Thursday, Jan. 22
The public is invited to a pottery making demonstration from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Jan. 22, in the PVCC Art Studio, M 142, by two ceramic artists from the village of Mata Ortiz, Chihuahua, Mexico. Mata Ortiz, located near the ancient ruins of Casa Grandes, Mexico, is famous for its beautiful pottery. Although rooted in a thousand-year-old tradition, the pottery of Mata Ortiz is spontaneous, a result of blending cultural expression, economic need and artistic desire. Pottery will be available for sale; cash or checks only. For further information, contact PVCC Art Professor David Bradley at 602-787-6615.

Free Yoga Class at the Fitness Center
Join thousands across the country in celebration of Yoga Day/USA, Jan. 24. The PVCC Fitness Center is holding a free yoga class from 1 to 2:15 p.m., in Room F 133. This class is open to the public, no reservations required and suitable for beginners or yogis, young or old.
