Women’s Soccer

PUMAS HANDLE THE GAUCHOS

The PVCC women’s soccer team played Glendale Community College Saturday September 8th. The Pumas earned their 5th shutout with a 5-0 win. The Pumas scored early in the 2nd minute by Ali Doller assisted by Cassie Beckwith. The second goal came off a corner kick by Marisa Villaverde and finished by Tianna Stewart in the 30th minute. In the 40th minute Jessie DeLeon scored off a free kick outside of the 18 yard box.

The Pumas struggled to finish until the end of the second half. Doller scored in the 81st minute with an assist from Stewart. The fifth goal came in the 88th minute by Stewart off of a DeLeon assist. Coach Kacey Bingham said, “We talked about performance for this game. I was very pleased with the effort put forth from the team. We competed until the last minute of the game and created numerous scoring opportunities.”

PVCC recorded 15 shots on goal to GCC’s 2.
Rachel Cardwell played the first half in goal for the Pumas. Cardwell recorded 1 save. Courtney Hageman went in goal for the second half. Hageman finished the game with 1 save and 0 goals against.

The Lady Pumas compete again Tuesday September 11th against undefeated Pima Community College at 8:00pm at Reach 11 on field #1.
