PUMAS FALL IN EPIC FASHION

The Pumas took on Chandler-Gilbert CC on Tuesday, October 23rd in a playoff match at CGCC. The Pumas lost to CGCC twice this regular season with a combined goal total of 10-2. The first half came to an end with a 0-0 tie, however about 10 minutes in to the second half Gabriel Huss played a great through ball to David Barragan who calmly flicked it over the CGCC goalie from about 7 yards out. This gave the Pumas the lead with 35 minutes left in the game. A few minutes later Dejan Susak hit the cross bar after the goalie made a finger tip save, coming from a great cross from Gabriel Huss. Shortly after CGCC came down the field and were given a penalty kick which they converted on, equalizing the game at 1-1 with 22 minutes left in the game. After regular time, the game finished in a 1-1 tie. After two 10 minute overtime periods the game was still tied at 1-1, which caused the game to go into penalty kicks. 5 shooters from each team were selected and the Pumas went first. Keeper, Mo Aguirre recorded 9 saves in the game including a brilliant save from a penalty kick. The Pumas fell with an overtime penalty kick score of 4-3, which was a heart-breaking way to lose a match after fighting for 110 minutes. "I could not have been prouder of these guys, they deserved the win today and left it all on the field, which is all you can ask for, " said Assistant Coach Jonathan Sang. The game finished with PVCC having 8 shots on goal to CGCC's 15. The overall performance showed that the PVCC Men's soccer program is on the rise and will continue to develop.
