NJCAA ANNOUNCES 2012-13 ACADEMIC AWARD WINNERS
The NJCAA released the names of the 2012-2013 NJCAA Academic Student-Athlete Awards as well as the NJCAA All-Academic Teams Awards. This academic year PVCC posted the most Student-Athletes and Teams for NJCAA academic awards in department history.
Nine PVCC teams were honored as 2012-2013 All-Academic Teams.
Men's Tennis - 3.31 GPA
Softball - 3.29 GPA
Women's Soccer - 3.26 GPA
Women's Cross Country - 3.15 GPA
Women's Outdoor Track & Field - 3.06 GPA
Men's Cross Country - 3.03 GPA
Men's Indoor Track & Field - 3.02 GPA
Women's Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field - 3.01 GPA
The Pumas also represented well with 14 individuals garnering 2012-2013 Academic Student-Athlete Awards.
Superior Academic Achievement designation was awarded to:
Makenna George - Soccer
Sarah Gaalswijk - Softball
Kristofer Ayers - Baseball
Exemplary Academic Achievement designation was awarded to:
Austin Shetterly - Baseball
Tayven Townsend - Tennis
Andreina Friedman - Tennis
Joseph Horn - Baseball
Krisa Duff - Soccer
Nicholas Sornsin - Baseball
Matthew Whitlatch - Cross Country/Track & Field
Tessalin Hamberlin - Soccer
Gino DiGiacinto-Hillis - Tennis
Caleb McKinnon - Baseball
Roxanne Messier - Softball
Academic Student-Athlete Awards are awarded as follows.
NJCAA Pinnacle Award for Academic Excellence
(4.00 GPA on a 4.00 scale)
NJCAA Award for Superior Academic Achievement
(3.80 to 3.99 on a 4.00 scale)
NJCAA Award for Exemplary Academic Achievement
(3.60 to 3.79 on a 4.00 scale)
All-Academic Team Awards are awarded to teams that post a 3.0 GPA or higher.
