On Tuesday, October 29 the PVCC Softball team volunteered at Cactus Shadows High School. As part of the athletic department's endeavor to give back to the community, the Pumas instructed kids ages 10 and up at a camp held that afternoon.
The Pumas shared their warm-up techniques and gave the youngsters a chance to ask questions about what it is like to be, and what it takes to become, a college student-athlete. Head Coach Nick Candrea also gave a step-by-step hitting demonstration to the kids.
The camp goers were separated by position and paired with Pumas who play that same position so they could learn first hand from a college player. After working on positions, the campers were broken up into hitting groups so the Pumas could instruct the kids on how to improve their hitting.
The Pumas and the campers all had an enjoyable and informative afternoon. The Pumas said it was a great experience and would love to do it again. Well done Pumas!
