Women's Sports

The athletics program at Paradise Valley Community College began in fall 1995 with three men’s sports (cross country, golf, and tennis) and two women’s sports (cross country, tennis).  Since that time the college has added 2 additional sports for men (soccer and track & field) and 4 for women (golf, soccer, softball, and track & field).  In the same time period, the number of athletes on campus each year has increased from approximately 23 to 134 in fall 2006.  As chronicled in the history below, both the men and women’s intercollegiate teams have been extremely successful in achieving national recognition.

  • Men’s Golf participates in NJCAA National Championship
1997-1998
  • Women’s Cross-Country wins NJCAA National Team Championship

  • Men and Women’s Cross-Country Teams place 2nd in NJCAA Championship
  • Women’s Cross-Country NJCAA National Champion
  • Four student-athletes named Cross-Country All-Americans
  • Five PVCC Men Soccer players are selected to All Conference, Region I
2002-2003
  • Inaugural season Women’s Fast Pitch Softball
  • PVCC dedicates track and soccer facilities
  • Men’s Cross-Country NJCAA National Champion
  • Women’s Cross-Country wins NJCAA National Team Championship
  • Three student-athletes named Cross-Country All-Americans
  • Men’s Tennis qualified for National Tournament, with top 20 national finish (19th)
  • Eight PVCC student-athletes are named Academic All-Americans (Minimum of 45 credit hours with a 3.6 GPA)
2003-2004
  • Women’s Cross-Country wins NJCAA National Team Championship
  • Men’s Cross-Country places 2nd at NJCAA National Team Championship
  • PVCC hosted the 2003 NJCAA Women’s Soccer National Championship
  • Nine PVCC student-athletes are named Academic All-Americans (Minimum of 45 credit hours with a 3.6 GPA)
2004-2005
  • Men and Women’s Cross-Country Teams NJCAA National Champions
  • Men and Women’s Soccer teams advance to Region playoffs
  • Six student-athletes named Cross-Country All-Americans
  • 21 All-Americans Indoor Track & Field and 2 National Champions
  • Men’s Indoor Track & Field places 3rd in Team Standings
  • Men’s Outdoor Track & Field places 4th in Team Standings
  • Women’s Outdoor Track & Field places 5th  in Team Standings
  • 30 All-Americans Outdoor Track & Field and 4 National Champions
  • Nine PVCC student-athletes are named Academic All-Americans (Minimum of 45 credit hours with a 3.6 GPA)
  • PVCC Women’s Outdoor Track & Field named All-Academic Team of the Year
2005-2006
  • Women’s Cross-Country team places 3rd at Nationals
  • Men’s Cross-Country team places 4th at Nationals
  • Three student-athletes named Cross-Country All-Americans.
  • Women’s Soccer team advances to Region playoffs
  • 4 All-Americans Indoor Track & Field and 1 National Champion
  • Women’s Indoor Track & Field places 3rd in Team Standings

  • Women’s Cross-Country team places 8th at Nationals
  • Men’s Cross-Country team places 7th at Nationals
  • Two student-athletes named Cross-Country All-Americans
  • Women’s Soccer earns Co-ACCAC Championship Title
  • 1 student-athlete named All-American Women’s Soccer
  • 1 student-athlete named as the Phoenix Women’s Sports Associations’ Community College Female Athlete of the Year
  • Two student-athletes named All-Americans Indoor Track & Field and 1 National Champion
  • 1 student-athlete named as the Region 1 Track & Field Women’s Athlete of the Meet
  • Women’s Golf Team advances to National Championship and earns 7th place in Team Standings
  • 1 student-athlete named All-American in Women’s Golf
  • Men’s Tennis Team advances to National Championship and earns 12th place in Team Standings
  • Women’s Outdoor Track & Field places 7th in Team Standings
