Below please find the latest information regarding State funding of community colleges and the potential impact on the PVCC budget.

1. The State is reporting a $2 billion shortfall in the current FY10 state budget. It is unclear if there will be a special session this fall to address the continued shortfall.

2. As we did last year, all MCCD Colleges have been asked to begin scenario planning for proposed base budget reductions of 1.4%, 2.9% and 4.4%. I want to emphasize that at this time this is just scenario planning.

3. It is highly likely that the MCCD Colleges will take a minimum of a 1.4% budget reduction in FY11. This equates to $466,529 for PVCC.

4. While community colleges in Arizona receive proportionately very  little state funding (out of the over $9 billion state budget), I am in the process of meeting with our State elected officials in Legislative Districts 6 and 7 to "tell our story."
