Greetings all,
In the last budget update, I reported that* *PVCC will move forward on
the hiring of two permanent positions -- Dean of Academic Affairs and
the Director of Financial Aid - both positions are in the base budget
and are critical leadership roles. I also indicated that the President's
Leadership Team will continue to evaluate other base budget, open
positions as the FY10 budget is finalized.
Over the last two weeks, the President's Leadership Team has reviewed
the twenty-six staff positions (formerly filled) that are currently in
the base budget that are either unfilled or filled with OYO or temporary
hires. As you know, many of these positions remain unfilled as a result
of the "soft" hiring freeze that was implemented at the onset of the
State budget reductions. We engaged this strategy to protect all current
employees from layoffs if additional State budget cuts materialized.
While the status of the FY10 State budget remains unclear, it has been
determined, that the College will best be served if the following
positions are removed from the 'soft" hiring freeze and filled this
summer. During this process, I have also engaged in conversations with
faculty senate, MAT and PSA leadership. These are core positions
supporting essential College functions. The following positions will be
filled: Computer Maintenance Technician, Coordinator of Marketing, and
the Director of Student Life and Leadership.
We will continue to evaluate the remaining positions throughout the summer.
As always, please feel free to call me directly at 7-6610 if you have
further questions.
Paul
