Job Title: Tutor (Temporary—RPS)
Department:  Learning Support Center
Phone (602) 787-7180
Pay Rate: $9.00-13.50 DOE Hours per week: Varies—up to 19
Hours worked: Shifts available morning, afternoon, and evening Monday-Friday and 10 am-2 pm Saturday
Job Duties: Tutor students individually and in small groups in course concepts for MAT through calculus 1 (MAT220), physics, chemistry, and biology. Provide reinforcement and practice of course material, aid in the comprehension of course material, and offer test reviews as needed.

Qualifications:

·       Earned a grade of A or B in subject courses and carry a minimum 3.0 overall GPA

·       Must be recommended by subject faculty if a student applicant

·       Must work well with students from varied backgrounds, age groups, and skill levels

·       Must be patient and have a strong desire to help students

·       Must have strong communication skills

·       Must attend LSC’s CRLA level-1 tutor training the semester hired

·       Submit completed application and unofficial transcripts to apply

Job Duties: Tutor students individually on drop-in and appointment bases in course concepts for composition courses and for all college writing assignments. Provide reinforcement and practice of writing skills, aid in the use of appropriately documenting research papers, and help students learn how to proofread and edit their own papers.

Qualifications:

·       Received an average grade of A (3.4-4.0) in ENG 101 and 102 and carry a minimum 3.0 overall GPA

·       Must be recommended by PVCC subject faculty if a student applicant

·       Must know APA Style and MLA Style

·       Must work well with students from varied backgrounds, age groups, and skill levels

·       Must be patient and have a strong desire to help students

·       Must have strong communication skills

·       Must attend LSC’s CRLA level-1 tutor training the semester hired

·       Submit completed application, a 5-8 page research paper from a previous class using APA or MLA documentation, and unofficial transcripts to apply

College Grant Coordinator

Department:  Administrative Services Division

Hours:  up to 20 Hours per week 

Schedule:  MondayFriday (hours may vary) May require occasional evenings and weekends

End Date:  June 30, 2014 (possibility of renewal 7/1/14)

Hourly Rate:  $12.30 - $14.00 (based on experience)

Job Summary:

Provide support to the PVCC College Grant Management team. Reports to Manager of College Fiscal Service, who will provide general direction, instructions and supervision. Duties include coordinating grant projects, meetings, activities, and events, monitoring grant budgets, performing purchasing functions, maintaining liaison with other administrators, faculty, consortium members, district office, and outside organizations. This position requires interacting with a diverse population of administrators, faculty, staff, students and the public.

Minimum Qualifications

-      Experience with programs and processes of granting agencies including federal agencies, as well as corporate and private sponsors. 

-       Experience monitoring and tracking grant budgets and projects.

-       Experience coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating grant projects and activities.

-       Experience maintaining confidential personnel, and accurate financial and statistical records. 

-       Experience in establishing and maintaining effective professional working relationships.

-       Proficiency with Microsoft office software.

Desired Qualifications:

-       College Degree. 

-       Experience coordinating, writing and/or preparing grants and contracts, or related experiences.

-       Experience managing multiple projects.

-       Experience working at a college or University. 

-       Evidence of interpersonal skills and effective verbal and written communication skills.

Special Working Conditions:  

Views computer screens for long periods of times. This position may be required to work evening and/or weekend hours on occasion.
