The Computer Commons is available for current PVCC students to complete course- and/or campus-related activities. PVCC students are required to present a current PVCC student ID card each visit to the Commons to receive and use the following: |

Access to and assistance in using course-related software on the desktop computers in the Open lab. |
|
|
Practice Presentation Room (E147) - Complete a Room Reservation Form |
|
|
Lab Assistants are available to answer quick questions but cannot teach software. |
|
|
Access to and assistance in using scanners for course-related assignments. (Lab Assistants can assist with, but cannot teach scanners). |

Handouts, FAQ’s and Tips |

|
Pay-per-Print is available at a cost of $0.10/side for B&W and $1.00/side for Color printing |

|
Data Recovery - lab staff may be able to assist you with recovering lost or damaged data |

Lab Assistants are available to check students in and out, assist with classes, and to answer quick questions for students using the Open lab. They are not available to sit with the students for one-on-one help in the lab. Students needing to meet with a tutor for their computer classes may check with the Learning Support Center (602.787.7180) |

Scheduling reservable CC lab classrooms for meetings, training, and demonstrations |

Academic classes have first priority. |
||
|
After academic classes, labs are available on a first come, first served, basis. |
||
|
To request a room reservation or suggest changes to hardware, software, access, or equipment use our online Room Reservation Form. |
||

Only existing, installed software is to be used in the CC Open Lab or CC classrooms. (Software changes and updates must meet campus software guidelines and be approved by using the Technology Request form . Considerations include advance notice, compatibility with existing hardware configuration and software, program size and requirements, server and desktop space allocations and availability, and number of users. |

Help Desk: Assistance in the Open Lab and CC Classrooms |
||
|
Lab Assistants are available in the Open Lab area to check students in and out, assist with classes, and answer software and hardware related questions for all students and employees using the Open Lab. |
||
|
Look for persons wearing a green band around their neck with a badge on the end. These are lab staff available to help in the Open Lab or assist with technical problems in the CC classrooms. |
||
|
Students requiring in-depth help should schedule time with a tutor from the Learning Support Center. |
||

Access to CC Lab resources |
||
|
PVCC employees have free access to use the software and hardware in the CC Open Lab. Employees are expected to show a PVCC staff ID (available from Public Safety) to access CC Open Lab resources. |

Software and technology training |

|
Technology training opportunities are offered at PVCC or through MCCD periodically and will be advertised.
