Supply List

Note: Be prepared to paint the first time the class meets.

Palette: wooden, acrylic/ plexi glass or glass ( bigger the better)

Brushes ( similar size substitutes are acceptable)

• no. 10 flat
• no. 4 flat
• no. 2 flat
• no. 8 bright
• no. 2 round
• long filbert
• a standard palette knife for mixing colors and cleaning the palette

Paints (if you have or want additional colors that is fine)

• Titanium white (get the big tube)
• Thalo Blue
• Cadmium Red Light
• Alizarin Crimson
• Burnt Sienna
• Burnt Umber
• Lemon Yellow

NOTE: Paint quality will reflect the price ! There are student grade, medium grade, and studio (professional) grade paints.

Painting Surfaces

• Canvas 2 or more (16x20 is a good size to start with . Do not go to small.)
• Canvas Board – you will need 4 canvas boards size 9x11in ( they come in packs of 2)

Mediums and Solvents:

• Turpentine/ paint thinner or Turpenoid (for cleaning brushes)
• Linseed Oil/ Liquin ( to speed up the drying of paints)
• Mineral Spirits: paint thinner (no odor).
• Liquid dish detergent ( Dawn is a personal favorite)

Accessories:

• plenty of paper towels/rags for cleaning your brushes and palette.
• Still life components (nothing of value that you would miss if it got damaged and if you can DONATE it to the class even better ) old toys, vases, pots, mugs, books, fabric, dried fruit, bottles, artificial flowers etc.
• Wear clothes that you do not mind getting dirty or bring an apron

P.S. IF you have newspaper at home , bring it in to protect the table surface while you are working. If you have a lot, bring it in to share. Thank you.
