· Watercolors: various pigments
· Watercolor palette
· H and 2B graphite pencils
· Permanent black India ink
· Paper
o 140# or 300# cold pressed watercolor paper, backs of old paintings. Can use quarter sheets.
· Brushes
o 2” flat Robert Simmons watercolor brush
o Stiff brittle brush for collage
o One or two brushes for making fine lines and your other favorite brushes
· Mats
o 2 or more mats to fit the papers you will be using, grays/neutrals suggested
· Other
o Sturdy board
o 3x5 or 4x6 photographs of simple subjects
o Spray adhesive or matte medium
o Gesso (Artists’ Acrylic Medium)
o Interesting papers:
§ small brown paper bag, wrapping paper or old road maps
§ Japanese rice paper
o Table cover (large towel, large trash bag cut open)
o 2 flat-bottomed water buckets (large margarine tubs work)
o Small tight lidded plastic bottles for pouring pigments
o Paper towels, box of Kleenex
