Basic Landscape Photography

Funtography
Turn your snapshots into photos of distinction by learning to use the basic functions of your camera and the elements that make better photos. New! DSLR Photography for the Beginner
This course will teach beginning photographers how to get free from the automatic settings of their DSLR camera. Learn the functions of aperture, ISO, and speed to control how your images are executed. You will learn about getting correct exposure and how light impacts your images. You will learn about the various image formats including camera raw and how to take control of your images after you get them to your computer (the digital darkroom). Also we will cover things like composition and what makes for an interesting photograph. This course requires you to have a DSLR camera with interchangeable lenses. Please bring your camera manual with you to class.

Basic Digital Photography Techniques (Digital SLR)
Learn basic digital photography techniques. Learn how to get your camera off ‘program’ or ‘auto’ mode for better pictures. This class offers the opportunity to learn use of shutter and aperture modes for more effective images. Learn proper exposure metering techniques, depth of field, use of filters, flash as well as better composition and travel tips. Student’s cameras must be a digital ‘single lens reflex (SLR) that can be set manually and have interchangeable lenses. No point and shoot cameras, please. Please read your instruction book and bring it and your camera to class. Field trip to the Desert Botanical Gardens will be on Sat, March 3, from 8:30 -11am. Students must provide own transportation and admission fee.

Int/Adv Digital Photography: Your Portfolio
Continue to enhance your photography skills. Learn about creating a photographic style while building a portfolio and open up new doors to seeing and exploring your vision. You will be given weekly photo assignments to complete for critiques by the instructor and fellow students. Field trip to the Japanese Friendship Garden will be on Sat, April 14, from 9:30am-12pm. Custom WB, Color Space, and Camera RAW Workflow
In this class, the student will learn how to use custom white balance, camera RAW, and color space in order to produce the highest quality photographs at the high-end amateur and semi-professional levels. Achieve perfect skin tones, perfect color balance, and optimum editing. Weather & Motion Photography
This course introduces the student to the challenges and thrills of Arizona weather, evening and motion photography. Basic camera operation and functions will be discussed. This course includes methods and tips on the use of long exposures to capture lightning and to create motion blue effects. Camera panning techniques will also be explored for capturing sporting events. Photography assignments will be given in order to assess learned skills. SLR and point and shoot cameras are welcome, however all cameras must have manual options and the ability to be taken off of ‘auto’. Tripods are highly recommended for evening work.
