Writing and Publishing
Creative Writing
The title of this class could just as easily be Engaging the Magic. Writing can connect us to the depths of our own being and that of others in profound and remarkable ways. For this class, you don’t have to call yourself a writer but it’s fine if you do. Perhaps you have stories to tell, memories to capture, perceptions to share but you never knew where to begin. Start here. You do not even need a clear and specific reason to take this class. Just come to explore, discover and play. Bring an open mind, a commitment to doing brief writing assignments, your willingness to share and a sense of wonder. Expect to be surprised and delighted along the way, including making a new friend or two. The atmosphere will be warm, safe, and creatively encouraging without judgment or criticism. We will be learning how to develop a writing life and how enriching it can be. We’ll pick up a few secrets to unblocking our creative potential, including guiding wisdom from authors like Elizabeth Gilbert of Eat, Pray Love Fame; Julia Cameron of The Artist's Way; and sassy Anne Lamott. In a world gone mad with the bombardment of instantaneous media, we will be slowing down, taking our time, listening and observing, riding a bicycle through our inner world instead of speeding by in a car. Join us and let us engage a little magic together! No class March 13.
