The purpose of this learn shop is to expand and improve the art of teaching and learning through Mind, Brain and Education Science. The most current and relevant brain research on how the brain learns that informs best teaching practices will be shared. How the brain is transformed by technology and the internet will be explored and best teaching practices for these brains will be explored. Practical application to specific curricular areas will be designed and developed through simulations, role play, and collaboration. The EDGE Program is a professional learning community for new PVCC (first three years of teaching experience at PVCC)and veteran Adjunct Faculty members. This hybrid program utilizes the Getting Results online course with a variety of supplemental materials made available through the Blackboard Learning Management System. An effective course design begins with asking questions in order to understand who your students are, deciding what you want them to learn, determining how you will measure whether students are learning, and planning activities, assignments and materials that are favorable to student learning. If you want to use Canvas, and all its features, this course is for you. This workshop has two-parts and fulfills part of the requirements for developing an online or in a hybrid format.
