Auditions for BUS STOP Presented by the PVCC Theater Department (Studio Theatre)
Details:
AUDITIONS FOR Bus Stop Directed by Joe Flowers Casting Protocol: Call 602-787-6595 to reserve a 5 minute audition time slot. Headshot and Resume: Optional, but preferred. Character Breakdown: Grace Hoylard– Owner of the Diner; Elma Duckworth– An intelligent, naïve high school girl; Will Masters– The local sheriff; Dr. Gerald Lyman– A college philosophy professor; Cherie– A pretty young “hill folk” woman; Bo Decker– A brash young cowboy; Virgil Blessing– An older, wiser cowboy; Carl– The bus driver Prepare: Actors are encouraged to perform a 1 to 2 minute prepared monologue. Sides will be available at the auditions for actors that do not have a prepared piece. Actors interested in the role of CHERIE should come prepared to sing acapella a song of your choice Rehearsals Begin: August 27, 2012 Performance Dates: September 27-30 2012 Play Synopsis: Bus Stop is William Inge’s classic romantic comedy about two young lovers and their struggle to find a place in the world. A snowstorm is raging in the Midwest, and a group of bus passengers take shelter in a small diner outside of Kansas City. Stranded for the rest of the night, the passengers and diners have to deal with a loud, boisterous cowboy and relentless pursuit of a pretty young girl from the Ozarks. As the night passes, Inge’s characters reveal how tough finding true love can be. Originally directed by Harold Clurman in 1955, Bus stop was nominated for four Tony awards including Best Play. Additional Info: All performers cast in the production are required to register for the THP 201AA-35224 production class (1 credit). |

We promote COMMUNITY, DIVERSITY & EMPOWERMENT drawing upon the traditional & contemporary rhythms of Brazil and beyond while bringing an original sound & energy to our desert metropolis. Specializing in Batucada including the Afro-Brazilian styles of Samba, Samba Reggae, Côcos and Maracatu, Grupo Liberdade strives to share the infectious sounds of Brasil with Arizona to further enrich, move & inspire. Since 2004, the group has performed throughout Arizona under the direction of Brazilian native, Poranguí from leading the Annual Phoenix Parade of the Arts through downtown Phoenix to producing & performing for the largest Brazilian cultural events in the state with Carnaval AZ and Brasil Fest AZ at the Musical Instrument Museum. Partnering with Capoeira Brasil Arizona and the SambAZ dancers, the group brings an incredible world-class performance troupe of dancers & musicians.
