Creating a brand new class or migrating an existing course can be a daunting task for new, as well as experienced, instructors. Getting some basic training will help. There is a philosophical difference between Blackboard and Canvas as a learning management system. Understanding these differences will support you as you lay out your course. If you only plan to use Canvas for uploading your syllabus, announcements, and grades, this workshop is for you.

Continuous Compression CPR (Hands-Only CPR) (Q120A)

Details:
Also known as Hands-only CPR. In an effort to make CPR more accessible to employees, this brief 60 minute hands-only CPR sessions includes a short lecture, practice and an introduction to the use of an automated external defribulator. Although the participant will not receive a certification from the class, they will walk away with the ability to perform CPR on an adult that has had a sudden cardiac arrest.

AED/CPR (Heartsaver) (Q120A)

Details:
This CPR and AED program teaches the principles of basic life support for adults. It gives you the latest guidelines for CPR and emergency cardiac care, starting with how to assess the scene of an emergency and take stock of the victim's condition. The course details how to perform one-rescuer CPR and rescue breathing, and how to manage choking in a conscious person. It also addresses infection control.

Bloodborne Pathogens (Q120A)

Details:
Bloodborne pathogens are microorganisms carried by human blood (and other body fluids) and cannot be seen with the naked eye. They can be spread through contact with infected blood. If they get into the bloodstream, an individual may become infected and sick. This interactive course covers the content of an Exposure Control Program, provides an Understanding of Bloodborne Pathogens and Modes of Transmission, describes Method to Control Bloodborne Pathogens in the workplace, reviews recommended Exposure Procedures, introduces the components of the OSHA Regulation, and allows for Questions and Answers.

This course includes a written test which each must be passed with a score of 80% or better to receive a certificate of completion.

Regulatory Reference: This course meets the intent of OSHA 1910.1030 requirements.

Audience: Any MCCCD employee who can reasonably be expected to come in contact with blood or other bodily fluids in the performance of their job duties.
