BUS STOP Presented by the PVCC Theater Department (STUDIO THEATRE)

Location: PVCC Center for the Performing Arts, Mainstage Theatre Admission: $10 Adults; $8 Seniors; $8 Staff; $6 Students; $4 Children Box Office/Information: (602)787-7738 Bus Stop is William Inge’s classic romantic comedy about two young lovers and their struggle to find a place in the world. A snowstorm is raging in the Midwest, and a group of bus passengers take shelter in a small diner outside of Kansas City. Stranded for the rest of the night, the passengers and diners have to deal with a loud, boisterous cowboy and his relentless pursuit of a pretty young girl from the Ozarks. As the night passes, Inge’s characters reveal how tough finding true love can be. Originally directed by Harold Clurman in 1955, Bus Stop was nominated for four Tony awards including Best Play. Performances are September 27th-29th at 7:30pm & September 30th at 2pm in the Studio Theatre/M-East Building. The girl lives in an imaginary world of her own creation and faces the real world with much pain. Fascist repression during the first years of Franco's dictatorship is at its height in rural Spain, and the girl must come to terms with that through a frightening fantasy of her own. He soon discovers that his family has problems that only he thinks he can solve. Specifically, he dreams of being reunited with his mother, who is separated from Valentin's abusive father and has abandoned her son. Valentin’s disinterested father uses him to attract new girlfriends like the beautiful Leticia, whom Valentin himself befriends. Saturday Concert Series: Casey Hurt and Friends(Amphitheater)
Details:
Location: PVCC Center for the Performing Arts, Amphitheater Admission: Free Box Office/Information: (602)787-7738 Casey Lee Hurt is the only son to a rebellious, God fearing ex-preacher. At an early age he was handed a pawn shop guitar and an old hymnal and they haven’t left his side since. He’s black coffee honest from the history in his voice to the heart on his sleeve and his music reflects that. Artists like Van Morrison, Ryan Adams and Ray Lamontagne resonate in his soul and have uniquely shaped the sound and story that is Casey Hurt. Casey spent most of 2010/2011 either on the road touring or in the recording studio. His most recent album “Mended Souls” debuted in the top 25 on the iTunes singer songwriter charts. Also, Casey’s song “Come To Me” was featured on the CW’s “One Tree Hill” along side of artist like Ray Lamontagne, The Black Keys and The Carey Brothers. Casey has also had music featured on shows like Bar Karma and Current TV and on radio stations up and down the west coast like Seattle’s KEXP and Los Angeles’s KCRW.
