Curriculum

A Child's Day

In the preschool classroom children explore their interests by interacting with materials, adults and each other. A Flexible Daily Schedule is followed to accommodate the individual needs and interests of the multi age group of children in our learning community. Included are breakfast, lunch and wholesome snacks, community time, large motor activities, literacy activities and a large block of uninterrupted time for project work, innovations and inventions.

Lunch is generally between 12:30 and -1:00pm, followed by active outdoor play. The outdoor environment offers the same learning centers as the classroom. This is evidence of our belief in the children’s right to continue to refine their experiences and interactions in a variety of settings. After vigorous outdoor play, the children are provided with a quiet literacy rich time indoors. Those children who are in care for five or more hours (or by parent request), are provided an opportunity to rest.
