Shougang Steel Factory

Beijing Shougang Co., Ltd., founded in October 1999, is
principally engaged in the iron and steel industry. Based in
Beijing, the company mainly produces steel wire rods, square
steel billets, steel plates, chemical products, gas, coke, pig
iron and granulating slag. In 2005, Beijing Shougang produced
approximately 4.26 million metric tons of iron, 5.16 million
metric tons of steel and 3.82 million metric tons of steel
products. We were not allowed to take pictures inside of the plant but seeing the molten steel being poured was awesome, not to mention hot. This plant is scheduled to be closed and moved to a more remote area because of the pollution it produces. For more information visit
