Terra-cotta Warriors


The Terracotta Army or Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses is a collection of 8,099 life-size terra cotta figures of warriors and horses located near the Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor. The figures were discovered in 1974 near Xi'an, Shaanxi province.

This is truly an unbelievable display.  Of all the sites we saw, this impressed me the most.  Being a person who does ceramics, I can only imaging the time it took to create over 8,000 life-size figures.

Each figure has different details.



Most would have ad weapons but they were plundered over the years.

Even the horses have different featrues.

Rows of deep trenches were covered with log, then fabric/paper, and then several feet of dirt.
