University of Hong Kong


The University of Hong Kong is an English-speaking, and the oldest, tertiary institution in Hong Kong. Its motto in Latin is Sapientia et Virtus, meaning wisdom and virtue, and sometimes cited as Foresight and Social Conscience.

Academically, the university has traditionally been ranked as the top university in Hong Kong and one of the most prestigious universities in Asia. In 2005, the Times Higher Education Supplement ranked it 41st in the world and has placed many of its programs within the world's top 50, including those from the arts and humanities, social sciences, and biomedicine departments.
