Student Eligibility

Students enrolling for dual credit must meet course prerequisite and class standing qualifications. This is a program designed primarily for juniors and seniors. A limited number of sophomores may be eligible

Prerequisites and Placement: Enrollment requires a qualifying score on the college placement test, AIMS or SAT. Free college placement testing is administered at the Paradise Valley Community College location 18401 N. 32nd St, Phoenix, AZ. 85032, room 226. Students who don’t earn a qualifying score on their initial test may retest once per discipline within one year of the initial test after a 24-hour remediation period. Any further retests are invalid. Contact the college liaison for detailed information. College placement testing is required for academic courses. Occupational courses do not require college placement testing.

Class Standing: All dual students in public schools must be enrolled for a full-time instructional program at the high school before selecting dual college course(s). For example, a student attending six high school classes can enroll in only two of these classes for dual credit. The one exception is seniors who need less than four high school credits to graduate. These seniors are not limited in the number of dual courses they may take. School scheduling varies - see a high school counselor for the definition of a full-time instructional program.
