Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is Early College?
A. Early College is a program co-sponsored by Paradise Valley Community College and Paradise Valley Unified School District. It allows selected high school students to attend college classes during their junior and senior years of high school.

Q. What’s the advantage?
A. Well, do you like the idea of saving both time and money? You can complete up to 35 college credits in two years while you’re still in high school. Per-credit tuition at the community college is about a third the cost of tuition at the state universities. And—when you finish high school—you can transfer your PVCC Early College credits directly to the university of your choice. That means graduating sooner!

Q. Where are the classes taught?
A. On the campus of Paradise Valley Community College (32nd St. and Union Hills Drive). These are college classes taught by college faculty members.

Q. When are these Early College classes offered?
A. These classes are scheduled in the afternoon, after you’ve finished your high school classes for the day. Classes will start at 12:30 p.m. and usually last only one hour and fifteen minutes.

Q. Who can enter?
A. The program is limited to only 50 students. Each student will be recommended by their high school counselors and will test into collegelevel reading, English and math (101).
