What Parents Want to Know
Early College is a program co-sponsored by Paradise Valley Community College and Paradise Valley Unified School District. It allows selected high school students to attend college classes during their junior and senior years of high school.Students can earn up to 35 college credits while still in high school. This means that it’s possible to fulfill the lower division general education course requirements established by Arizona’s three state universities. That’s because all Early College courses completed with a grade of C or higher automatically transfer to ASU, UA, and NAU.
Students who successfully complete the entire Early College Program will be automatically accepted into their choice of the three state universities. Acceptance into a specific degree or professional program at a state university requires all students to meet the requirements established by the university
Students and their families will save money. The cost per credit hour at the state universities is more than three times higher than the per credit hour cost for the same courses taught in the Early College Program. This translates into big savings for students and their families and makes higher education affordable for more people.
