at PVCC
In 1997, Paradise Valley Community
College starting the process of becoming a more learning-centered
college
by holding a discussion
with the strategic planning council regarding the
college’s true core value.
Outcomes
of this discussion and many others that occurred
across the institution are indicated below:
• Learning
is the core value of our college. It is what we strive
to achieve; it is what we care about deeply. It is
our mission, our common purpose.

Learning at PVCC means increasing the capacity of our students,
our employees and our organization to achieve the knowledge,
skills, attitudes, and values that will enable success. At
bottom, learning at PVCC, as it is in life, is about solving
problems and creating opportunities.

Learning at PVCC includes three dimensions: Student, Employee

relevant/meaningful, deep vs surface, integrative, transformative
developmental, holistic, lifelong and long-lasting

and links the transfer of individual and group learning

creation of systems (policies, procedures and structures)
