Basic Questions - Paper #1
Summary

Summary

If the College concludes that the traditional structure will not, over the long term, be aligned with maximizing student learning, accepts the need for an executive team of three deans, and confirms the above stated organizational parameters as criteria for organizational design, it seems that there would be a clear edict to look at an organizational realignment. Further, if there is validity in separating the discrete administrative and matriculation services, the challenge becomes to then align and structure the remaining learning centric functions. Any new or innovative model addressing the remaining functions must attempt to balance the organizational parameters discussed above.

It should also be noted that this is just one step towards creating a more learning centered environment. In terms of structure (O'Banion's observations of time-bound, place-bound, efficiency-bound and role-bound), the overall traditional architecture that limits teaching and learning will need to be studied.
