ORGANIZING FOR LEARNING

Foundational Beliefs

There are a number of organizing beliefs that provide a foundation for adopting a new process for making "realignment" or "reorganization" decisions at PVCC. These include:

  • Our belief that the process leading to the decision-making about PVCC's organizational structure is a rich opportunity for employees to learn more about our college.

  • Our belief that when the college's core value changes, its "systems"(structures, policies, procedures, practices) are likely to need realignment to reflect the change.

  • Our belief that it is essential to embrace a "view of the whole" when making organizational decisions.

  • Our belief that effective and sustainable decisions are the product of a decision-making process that is collaborative, democratic and transparent.

  • Our belief that individuals with specified "skill sets"(experience, training, etc.) are positioned to make unique contributions to the administrative leadership organizational realignment decision-making process.

  • Our belief that positive relationships, i.e. "handshake zones," built on integrity, trust and shared goals, are foundational to sustainable organizational success.
