ORGANIZING FOR LEARNING

Compelling Forces

There are compelling forces that suggest that a realignment of the current administrative leadership structure (organizational chart) is appropriate. These factors include:

  • The college's reaffirmed commitment to learning as its core value.

  • A newly appointed President and Dean of Instruction.

  • The vacant Dean of Administrative Services position.

  • Capital development (bond) planning that about to begin.

  • The hiring of a new Director of Institutional Planning, Research and Assessment who will support the learning process.

  • The continued emergence of "powerful learning strategies" including the First Year Experience, Learning Communities, Distance Learning, Service Learning, the SUCCEED Program, Co-curricular Student Clubs, and Assessment.

  • The escalating transition of PVCC from the "early growth" of its organizational life-cycle to the "adolescent" stage.

  • The increase in faculty (full-time and adjunct) and staff.

  • Significant enrollment growth that is projected to continue.
