Course Title
Course Description
Backpacking: Intro

Must be in good condition for this beautiful hike near Sedona, AZ (3-5 miles one-way). A recommended schedule for conditioning can be obtained by calling (602) 787-7271. Transportation provided. Back to Schedule.

Back Packing: Havasupai Falls Must be in good condition for this beautiful hike to the waterfalls (10 miles one way). A recommended schedule for conditioning can be obtained by calling (602)787-7271. Additional Course Fee: $125. Time travel includes late afternoon/ evening. Transportation on 4/24 provided. Students are responsible for hotel cost in Williams, Arizona. Back to Schedule.
Fitness Walking Course is for both the beginner and the trained power walker. Includes Nordic Walking (use of poles) which has an average 20% higher caloric expenditure. Back to Schedule.
Golf

Course covers basic terms, rules, and regulations, how to hold the club, proper stance, putting the ball, and fundamentals of chipping and pitching the ball. Students must supply their own golf clubs. Students must pay additional green fees directly to the golf course. The first class of each section will meet in room F-130. All of the 2nd class meetings will be on the Paradise Valley Golf Course. Back to Schedule.

Special equipment required: Students must supply their own golf clubs. PVCC has only a limited number of clubs for student use. Added Fees: students must pay additional green and ball fees directly to the PV Golf Course. The first class will meet in F-130. Back to Schedule.

Hiking

Develop safe and effective hiking skills. First class meets at 8:30A in F130 (Fitness Center). Must be in good condition for these hikes. Come prepared to hike with proper clothing, shoes, water and a snack. Includes a hike to the Superstition Mountains, Sedona, and other local hikes. Prerequisites: None. Back to Schedule.

Hiking for Enthusiasts
This class will not leave you in the dust! The class is designed to meet the needs of conditioned adults with minimal hiking experience. It will include basic hiking skills, safety tips, information on outdoor life, nutrition for hikers and much more. Class meets a total of 6 times on local trails. The first meeting is a hiking instructional day, orientation, and outdoor hike around the college athletic fields. Back to Schedule.
Outdoor Fitness Adventure:Bootcamp

Consists of powerwalking and jogging to improve cardiovascular endurance and other formats to create an exercise routine that is fun.May be repeated for credit. Prerequisites: None. Back to schedule.

Physical Conditioning for Softball

Covers the body mechanics and performance techniques as related to strength and conditioning for advanced athletes. May be repeated for credit. Prerequisites: None. Back to schedule.

Physical Conditioning for Track & Field

Tennis

Learn how tennis can contribute to one's fitness. Learn the basic rules of tennis, develop skills in fundamental shots and grips, develop a sense of strategy, and develop a sense of physical fitness. May be repeated for credit. Prerequisites: None. Back to schedule.

Weight Training for Men

Designed to teach the basic principles and techniques of strength training. Includes partner training; lean body mass assessment; increasing muscular fitness. May be repeated for credit. Prerequisites: None. Back to schedule.
