Dance Performance |

| Rhythmic Theory for Dance |
Exploration
of the ways in which music, time, pitch, and energy work with
the art of dance. Emphasis on reading and writing music notation
and performing movement that correlates to the notation and vice
versa. Prerequisites: None.

Study of basic dance choreography to include construction of a phrase, structure and form in a composition, and the basic elements of time, space and energy. Prerequisites: None. Back to schedule. |
| Choreography II |
Exploration of the craft of choreography at the intermediate level. Experimentation with the various approaches to contemporary choreography as established by 20th century artists. Prerequisites: DAN264. Back to schedule. |
| Dance Practicum |
A
culmination of coursework for the dance major requiring completion
of an extended choreographic work from conception to performance.
Also required a final evaluative paper on the successes and
challenges encountered throughout the project. Prerequisites:

| Dance Sampler: Capoeira, Brazilian Martial Art Dance |
High energy Afro-Brazilian martial art integrating self-defense, music, song and dance. For students wishing to gain upper and lower body strength, stamina, and muscle tone along with an understanding of Afro-Brazilian culture. May be repeated for credit. Prerequisites: None. Back to schedule. |

| Dance Sampler: Flamenco |
For the beginner flamenco student: Learn how to add Spanish flare to your life and also learn the exciting regional dances of Spain! Flamenco greatly improves posture and teaches you to move your arms, hands, and feet with precision, grace and elegance. Intricate foot control and placement are covered in detail in order to pave the road for solid flamenco training.
