Course Description:

Fitness and wellness activities to help develop a lifetime of regular exercise, stress management and proper nutrition. Workouts include warm-up/stretch, aerobic exercise, selected strength exercises, and cool down/stretch. Group Fitness classes are available at no additional charge.

PED 115 Section 4820 is a 2.0 credit course offered as a PASS / ZERO CREDIT grade option. Thirty hours of fitness activity are required to earn a "P". Please see a syllabus for details.

Orientation:

You must receive an orientation to the Fitness Center . This includes completing the health history questionnaire, and blood pressure. If you have been enrolled in the Fitness Center within the past 2 years, you will only need to update your paperwork, pick up a log book, and have your blood pressure checked before beginning your workouts.

Checking In & Checking Out:

Please check in and out at the Fitness Center Front Desk with your Employee ID Card. This is our record of your visit - you will not receive credit for a visit if you do not check in. Important for tracking hours: If you fail to check out after your workout, the maximum time for which you will receive credit that day is 20 minutes. Check your attendance record hours at the Front Desk at least every 2 weeks to verify your attendance hours. You are encouraged to keep your own personal log of your workouts using the log books available at the front desk. All discrepancies must be submitted in writing using the appropriate form within two weeks of the reported date of discrepancy. The computer record will be considered correct and final if two weeks have passed.

Attending Group Fitness Classes (Aerobics):
To attend a Group Fitness class, please check in at the Front Desk of the Fitness Center with your Employee ID Card before attending a Group Fitness class and then bring your card to the classroom. This will allow your hours to be tracked in the computer.
Grading:

The Faculty/Staff Fitness Membership is a 2 credit P/Z course - (PED115 Section 4820). To receive a "P", 30 hours of exercise are required. Please note: fifteen "at home" exercise hours may be counted toward your total hours. Please download the Home Based Wellness Activity Form. Please see a Lisa if you have any questions.

Triple Teams:
Triple Team: Form a team of any three employee Fitness Center Members. Total cumulative time for the three participating team members is tabulated each week. Incentive prizes are given to the teams who accumulate a total of 45 hours. Special incentives are given to the team whose individuals each earn 30 hours!! A single member may contribute a maximum of 30 hours toward the total team hours. Team members do not need to exercise at the same time but are encouraged to support one another throughout the semester.

Friday: 5:30 am - 7:00 pm
Saturday: 7:00 am - 4:00 pm
Sunday: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
The Fitness Center will be Closed on:
  Monday, Sept 1st (Labor Day),
  Tuesday, Nov 11th ( Veteran's Day),
  Thursday, Nov 27th ( Thanksgiving Day).
