Q. What do I do to get started?

A. Visit College Safety-KSC bldg. Student Community Services Center

  • Register for the Fitness Center.
  • Obtain PVCC student ID which must be presented to enter the Fitness Center.
  • Obtain parking decal if you drive a motor vehicle on the PVCC campus. Vehicles must be registered by license plate number.

Q. How do I check in to the Fitness Center to workout?

A.Present your PVCC student ID card at the front desk each time.

A PVCC student ID is required to workout. ID cards are used to check out towels and other items.

Q. What should I wear?

A.Proper attire is:

  • Shoes (tennis, jogging, aerobic), full t-shirts, fitted tank tops, shorts or sweat pants, appropriate leotards and tights.
  • Fashion no-nos: bare stomach, ripped or torn clothing, uncovered sports bras, clothing with zippers or belts, street clothes, low cut necklines or armholes, backless leotards, thong sandals.

Q.What do you provide? What should I bring?

A. We provide:

  • Lockers and showers. Please bring your own lock, soap, and towel. Locks and clothing must be remove from the lockers each day. ** A limited number of lockers are a vailable to rent by the semester for a fee of $15 or for a year for $40.
  • Gym wipes and towels to wipe upholstery as you leave each machine. We do not provide towels for showering. Please leave all used towels at the Front Desk when checking out.
  • Educational videos
  • Weight belts
  • Check out the above items at the Front Desk when you present your ID.
You provide:
  • Headphones
  • Shower towels
  • Proper Workout attire

Q. Are there any "rules" I should know about regarding the equipment?

A. The Circuit is designed to allow users a continuous uniterrupted workout. When using the circuit, always progress in order, alternating with the bike. Regular circuit use takes priority over single set training. The circuit bikes will not be available during the spinning class (see posted times).

There is a 20 minute limit on all of the cardiovascular equipment when members are signed up on a waiting list. The exception is when no students are waiting to use the equipment. If all treadmills or stairmasters are being used, place your name on the waiting list located at the front desk.

Q. Can I bring a friend?

A. You may invite a friend or family member to use the Fitness Center for one visit if they meet the proper age and health requirements. A guest form must be filled out before participating. A person may be denied participation if they have health risk factors that would require a medical release.

Q. Can I bring my own personal trainer?

A. No. Only a MCCCD Certified Instructors employeed by PVCC can instruct at our college Fitness Center. Inquire about our Jump Start Program for on-on-one training.

Q. Can I bring my children?

A. For their safety, children are not allowed in the Fitness Center or any area of F Building while you are participating in class.

Q. Is there an age limit to be a Fitness Center member?

A. For PED115 credit class:
16 years minimum, can work out without a parent present; must have a concurrent enrollment form to enroll; release form signed by parent or legal guardian for any student under 18.

A. For Non-Credit Fitness Center:
13 years minimum; 13-15 year olds must be accompanied by parent unless enrolled as part of a program; release form must be signed by parent or legal guardian for any student under 18.

Q. Is there anything else I should know about as a Fitness Center Member?

A. Some Fitness Center sections include Group Exercise Classes. Ask a Fitness Center instructor for more information.

NO CELL PHONES allowed inside the gym.
