Technology Student Self Help
PVCC’s Technology Helpdesk is available to help you work through some of the technological barriers that may come up during your online experience. Please choose from the list of questions below to help troubleshoot your issue. If at any time, you are unsure of what to do please call the Technology Helpdesk at 602-787-7780.
The Technology Helpdesk Hours during Fall/Spring Semesters are:
Monday - Thursday, 7:00a to 7:00p
Friday 7:00a to 6:00p

What's an MEID and what's it for?
- Your MEID or Maricopa Enterprise Identification is what PVCC uses to identify you and your account. It usually consists of the First 3 letters of your name followed by 2 more letters and then a series of numbers (e.g. abcde12345). MEID's may vary.

How do I set up my MEID and password?
- If you are a first time student or returning student, go to my.maricopa.edu and select "First Time Users Start Here", select the option that applies to you to setup account.

What if I forgot my MEID?
- If you forget your MEID you can go to my.maricopa.edu and click on the "Reset MEID" password link, then click on the "Forgot your MEID" link.

What if I forgot or need to reset my password?
- You can reset your password at any time. You can access the password reset tool here.

What is my email address?
- Your student email address is "Your MEID"@Maricopa.edu

Where do I go to access my email?
- Student email can be accessed from the link within your MyMaricopa student center or the link at My.Maricopa.edu.

Can I forward my email to another address?
- Yes, you can forward your email to another address. For more information on forwarding emails, click here.

Can I create a folder in my email?
- You cannot create folders in MyMaricopa email but what is called "Labels" can be assigned to incoming emails.

I am now married. Can I change my name in my email?
- Official name changes are not available for email accounts through MyMaricopa.

What is my username and password?
- You will log in with your MEID and password

Why can't I see the PVCC wifi network on my computer?
- Make sure your wireless is turned on, find the program that controls your wireless card, make sure you can see the wireless network "pvc-wifi" and tell the computer to connect.

Why can I load the login page, but I keep failing to log in?
- Make sure you have clicked to agree to our campus wifi terms of service. If issues continue, clear your browser cache and cookies and try again.

Why can't I get to the login page to load?
- This issue could be caused by your web browser, we suggest downloading the latest version of Google Chrome

Can I print from the wireless network?
- Printing is not available from the pvc-wifi wireless network

Do I have to log out when I am done?
- We recommend disconnecting from pvc-wifi when it is not needed.

Is there a time limit for accessing pvc-wifi?
- There are no time limit restrictions on using the campus wireless system. You can access the pvc-wifi wireless network on campus seven days a week, during the hours of 6:00am - 11:00pm.

Can I access pvc-wifi with more than one device at a time?
- Due to restrictions only two devices per MEID are allowed to connect at the same time.

What is my user name to access my print account?
- You can access your user account by typing in either your MEID or the Barcode on the back of your ID card that you received from Public Safety. The barcode usually consists of the beginning three numbers "159" and is approximately 13 digits long.

How do I manage my print account?
- You can access your print account here, or by visiting an Equitrac™ Pay Station located in the Computer Commons, Library, or Q building.

How do I get a refund for incomplete print jobs?
- You can submit a request concerning incomplete print job refunds here. Refund requests are examined on a case-by-case basis, and funds may or may not be refunded.

How do I add funds to my account?
- Use the Equitrac™ Pay Station located in the Computer Commons, Library, or Q building.
- Enter the 13-digit barcode on the back of your ID card and press "ENT" OR swipe your ID card face up in the card reader. A new PVCC ID card is required to swipe your card in the card reader. PVCC Campus Safety is available for updated PVCC ID card requests.
- Load currency into the bill acceptor in the form of $1, $5, $10, or $20. The Equitrac™ Pay Station accepts bills ONLY, no debit/credit cards or coins. The Equitrac™ Pay Station does NOT give change.
- Press the "D" key to close your account. Important: Accounts accessed through the Equitrac™ Pay Station remain accessible, by anyone, from 1-2 minutes after the transaction unless the user presses the "D" key.

Am I able to check out equipment from the PVCC Technology Helpdesk?
- If you are in a permanent position or Faculty with proper authorization, you can check out equipment from the Technology Helpdesk

Am I permitted to install software on checkout equipment?
- Yes, software may be installed on equipment that is checked out

What equipment can I check out from the PVCC Technology Helpdesk?
- Dual Boot (Mac OS/Windows 7) Laptops, iPads and iClicker sets are available for check out. Please contact the helpdesk for availability.

How long can I check out the equipment?
- Equipment can be checked out for up to fourteen days, or thirty days with presidential approval. You can download the checkout form here.

Which signatures are required for me to check out equipment?
- If the checkout is on campus, then only the employee's signature is required
- For fourteen days or less, both the department chair/supervisor and a vice president's signatures are required
- For thirty days or more, the department chair/supervisor, a vice president, and the president's signatures are required

Am I able to check out software from the PVCC Technology Helpdesk?
- You must be a Board-Approved staff or faculty member at PVCC to check out software for home use, the software request form can be found here

Are my students able to check out software that I'm teaching in class?
- Due to limited licensing, students are not permitted to check out software from PVCC's Technology Helpdesk

May I make a backup copy of the software I check out?
- Backup copies of software is not permitted due to copyright law. Please contact the Technology Helpdesk if another copy of checked out software is needed

What software is available to check out?
- For a list of software available to check out, please contact the Technology Helpdesk

Is there a time limit for how long I can check out the software?
- Software checked out from Technology Helpdesk must be returned within two days

Is there a limit to how many copies I can check out?
- Only one copy per software program may be checked out at one time

I am teaching a class how do I request account credit?
- You can submit a request to have your account credited here. Make sure to include class information and your MEID in the request

- After 45-60 minutes of inactivity the pvc-wi-fi wireless network will automatically close your session.

- Printing is not available from the pvc-wi-fi wireless network.

- Due to certain restrictions at this point only two devices per ID are allowed to connect at a time.

Can I have a web server space to create a webpage for a class I am teaching?
- You can request web server space here, make sure to provide as much information as possible such as the class you are teaching.

How do I request changes be made to a specific page on the PVCC campus webpage?
- You can request changes here, please list the webpage url and be as specific as possible when describing requested changes.

What do I enter for my host name for FTP:
- Host Name will vary depending on what server your page resides on. For example: www2.pvc.maricopa.edu or www3.pvc.maricopa.edu

What do I enter for my username and password?
- Password is given to you when you are assigned web server space.

What if I forgot my username and password?
- You can request your user name or that your password be reset here.
