Secondary Education, Two-Year Postsecondary Education, and A

Scope:
The purpose of this program is to enhance agricultural education, increase the effectiveness of relevant faculty members, and increase interest in related fields among young people.

Areas:
Funded projects will be expected to accomplish the following objectives:

* Enhance agricultural education through curriculum improvements
* Increase faculty teaching competencies
* Expand career opportunities
* Integrate agricultural education into the curriculum
* Facilitate interaction with other academic institutions
* Expand student and workforce diversity

Supported projects should also focus on the agriscience or agribusiness disciplines.

Funds:


* Approximately $1 million is expected to be available to support awards through this program in FY 2010.


* Regular project applicants (single institutions) may request up to $35,000. Joint proposals can request up to $50,000.

* Applicants must provide at least 50 percent of the total project costs via nonfederal cash and/or in-kind resources.

* Project periods can range from 18 to 24 months, and projects may start as early as July 2010.

* Indirect expenses are limited to 22 percent of the total project costs.
