Computer
Use Policy
The PVC Library adheres
to the MCCD Computer Resources Standards which have been established
for campus computer users.
The
Maricopa Community College District’s Computing Resource
Standards can be found at:
http://www.dist.maricopa.edu/legal/dp/inbrief/compstandards.htm
The computers are for
research purposes
and top priority will
be given to users who are performing class related assignments
and research. Library staff reserve the right to ask patrons who
are not doing scholarly work to relinquish the computer they are
using. Community Borrowers are only allowed 2 hours of use each
day.
Computers are provided
for patrons to access electronic resources available both in the
Library and through the Internet.
Computers may not be
used for commercial gain or for private profit.
Viewing websites that
may be considered offensive to other library users is strictly
forbidden and will result in revocation of library privileges.
Patrons doing scholarly
research on subjects which may be offensive to nearby persons
or which may violate these rules will need to consult with Library
staff before beginning research at any Internet station.
Internet access is
a privilege, not a right, and as such can be withdrawn from those
who use it irresponsibly.

Users
are expected to use earphones when accessing computer programs
that have sound components in order to avoid disturbing
other library users. Earphones are available at the Circ
desk.
|
| |
Users may not attempt
to change or modify hardware, or software configurations or install
software on the Library's workstations. Tampering with library
computers such as attempting to damage computer equipment or software
or cause degradation of system performance will result in revocation
of library privileges.
|
Users may not
attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Library's network
or computer systems or to any other network or computer
system.
|
| |
One patron may not
use more than one computer concurrently.
Printing must be kept
