Laptop
Use Policy
The PVC Library adheres to the MCCD Computer Resources Standards which have been established for campus computer users. The Maricopa
Community College District’s Computing Resource Standards can
be found at: Laptops are now available for use in the Library - with limits. They can only be checked out to a PVC student with a valid PVC ID and no fines on their record. The check out period is for 2-hours and is library use only (no exceptions!) The student must read over the Laptop Check Out Terms and sign the log sheet when checking out a laptop. The computers are for research purposes and do not have word processing. The student will be held responsible for any damage to the laptop. A maximum fee of $2,500.00 will be posted to the student's record to cover any damages. Laptops are provided for patrons to access electronic resources available both in the Library and through the Internet. Laptops may not be used for commercial gain or for private profit. Viewing websites that may be considered offensive to other library users is strictly forbidden and will result in revocation of library privileges. Patrons doing scholarly research on subjects which may be offensive to nearby persons or which may violate these rules will need to consult with Library staff before beginning research with any laptop. Internet access is a privilege, not a right, and as such can be withdrawn from those who use it irresponsibly.
Users may not attempt to change or modify hardware, or software configurations or install software on the Library's laptops. Tampering with library laptops such as attempting to damage computer equipment or software or cause degradation of system performance will result in revocation of library privileges.
Printing is not possible directly from the laptops. Please email or bring your own flash drive if you need to save research. Saving, burning, or downloading files, including music or other media files, is subject to copyright laws. Copyright
