All
users of the PVCC Library, including students, staff, faculty, and
community borrowers, must abide by these policies. Failure to do
so can result in ejection from the Library, suspension of library
and/or campus privileges, or arrest.
Appropriate
Behavior
Any library user who exhibits behavior
that is loud, aggressive, inappropriate to a library setting, or that
otherwise creates a disturbance will be asked to leave the Library.
Cell
Phone & Phone Usage
As a courtesy to other library users,
please turn cell phone ringtones down or set them to vibrate. If you
must take a call, please complete it quietly. Patrons
are not permitted to use our phones. Public phones are available at
each end of the building.
Computer
Usage
The Maricopa Community College District’s

Academic
use will take priority
when
computers use are at a premium. Viewing websites that may be considered
offensive to other library users is strictly forbidden and will
result in revocation of library privileges. Word
processing, programming, or other applications are not available
on library computers. Tampering with library computers in any way
will result in revocation of library privileges.
Printing must
be kept within reasonable limits. For lengthy documents, please
email, download, or bring your own paper. Saving, burning, or downloading
files, including music or other media files, is subject to copyright
laws.
Community
Borrowers are allowed 2 hours of use each day.
Copiers & Printers
Copying on the three copiers are available
in the Library for patron use which are located in the Copy Machines
room. Copies are $.10 per page. The library's public use computer
network provides three printers and printing is currently free but
ask patrons not to print no more than they need. Printing is only
for academic use.
Copyright
Law
Copyright law of the United States (Title 17 U.S. Code)
governs the making of copies of copyrighted material. Any person copying
such material is liable for any infringement.
Food
and Drink
Food and drink are allowed in the Library - just be
careful and do not leave a mess. Trash receptacles are found throughout
the Library just waiting to be used.
Laptops
A
few laptops are now available to check out for a limited 2-hour use.
These are only for PVC students who have a current PVC ID and no
fines of any sort on their records.
Quiet
Atmosphere
Users of the Library expect to have
a reasonably quiet study space. Please conduct group sessions in our
group study rooms (NE corner), and restrict lengthy conversations
to the hallway. The Quiet Zone near the study rooms is set aside for
quiet individual study.
Resources/Supplies
Use of supplies and resources
by library patrons will be monitored by the Library staff.
Excessive or inappropriate use will result in the access to the
supplies or resources being denied.
Student
Precedence
Although our Library is open to the
public, PVCC students shall take precedence in the use of resources,
including computers, study tables, and study rooms. Non-students are
asked not to use computers during busy times and instruction sessions.
Study
Rooms
Small study rooms and group study
rooms are available for students on a first come first serve basis.
The group study rooms are for two or more
students only and are equipped with white boards, televisions and
DVD/VHS players.
Private, fee-based tutoring in
the study rooms are available for PVCC students only.
Unattended
Children
It is a violation of District policy
to leave children under 18 unattended anywhere on campus, including
the library. College Safety will be notified if children are left
unattended.

Patriot Act - WARNING:
Under Section 215 of the federal USA Patriot Act (Public
Law 107-56), records of books and other materials you borrow from
this library may be obtained by federal agents. This law also prohibits
librarians from informing you if records about you have been obtained
by federal agents. Questions about this policy should be directed
to Attorney General at the Department of Justice, Washington, DC.
