To find out where you can locate your research sources,
use the binders on the reference tables in the PVCC library. These
binders will tell you if your source is available at this or other Maricopa
Community College libraries. It is a good idea to find locations for
all of your tentative bibliography source citations at the same time so you
do
not
have
to keep switching between locating a source citation in the index and finding
the location of that source. If the source is located at another
Maricopa Community College, you can request one copy of that article by
interlibrary loan, which takes about three to five days. Since research
projects move quickly, you may need to go to that library to pick up your
article since you may not be able to wait the three to five days for the
article to be sent. If you request an article outside the district,
it could take you two or three weeks to get the article, which is usually
much too long to wait. Because of the time it takes to get articles
through interlibrary loans outside the college district, you will probably
have to pick these articles up at other libraries throughout the valley.
If your source is not available in a Maricopa Community
College library, then use SOLAR in the Paradise Valley Community
College library. SOLAR is a listing of the location
of all the periodicals in the state of Arizona. This product is a
series of acetate sheets that you put in a microfiche to identify which
library in the Valley may have your article. Try to write down all
the libraries that have your article so when you finish
going through your tentative bibliography sheet, you can try to go to the
one or two libraries that have most of your articles.
