News/Events:

NEWSFLASH!  PVCC moves into the online tutoring arena with a new online math pilot for the Summer 2008 session!  If you haven't tried it, stop by and visit us in cyberspace on Saturday or Sunday!

We are using Blackboard's virtual classroom, Wimba for voice, and the tutor has a graphic tablet and stylus to write the equations you ask about. In the virtual classroom, tutors can answer general questions in the group or meet in a quick breakout session.

Quote of the Week:
Learning is a treasure that will follow its owner everywhere.

Study Tips of the Week:

Test anxiety reduction strategies often require more determination and effort than other types of strategies: As you begin to feel anxious, you can create a relaxation response to avoid the negative effects of anxiety (i.e., tension, nervousness, forgetfulness, knots in stomach, nausea, shortness of breath).

  • This can be done by focusing on a favorite landscape, song, or happy moment, or even by counting.
  • This is often among the easiest to implement and the most effective in dealing quickly and immediately with anxiety.
  • Some specific relaxation strategies are listed in "Learning Your Way."
