Aztec Software Demo discussion:
Varied reactions to the presentation and fit to the campus.
Pluses included:
- Consistent, well-designed, easy to navigate modules
- Provides Pre/Post-test options for tailor-made courses, subjects,
or job skills
- User testimony stated excellent support and success in use
- Company-stated interest in developing peer forum to share best
practices and problem-solve
Concerns included:
- Lack of faculty involvement in assessing need and fit at campuses
- Authentication and security seemed weak
- Need for more information, specifics for topics listed but not
shown (Correct Work Behavior listed as a topic, but details as
to what their module would include were not available) Only one
of the Job Skills modules was available for show
- Ratio of high cost versus low need for half of campuses represented
in LSCC. Many critical needs for technology monies to support
campus needs.
- Vagueness of additional cost for having company add audio to
user-created modules (especially to maintain consistency of bilingual
options throughout)
- More than a million dollars for a districtwide
purchase of a system which is not deemed as a good fit for all
the colleges (four of eight campuses felt there could be a good
fit) and a required annual maintenance fee of $120,000-140,000.
Name for the group
Suggestions included:
Learning Enhancement/Assistance/Support

Learning Support Center Consortium
MCCCD Learning Centers
More thought to be given and discussion continued at the next

CRLA state chapter status update:
27 members – Rick will be asking CRLA for update of CRLA members
in AZ. If we have 25+ members of AZ residents who are CRLA members,
we can apply for state chapter status. The proposed bylaws were
updated at the May meeting.
Suggestions for online resources (study skills & tutor
training) – moved to next meeting
