10. The occasional disappointment
An observation: even after a long history of success with a particular student, as tutor you will occasionally experience days of less-than-stellar success with them. This is normal and expected. While it is an undeniable source of frustration, it should not become a source of discouragement. These kinds of events naturally occur in every kind of relationship, and the relationship between tutor and student is no exception. As long as they are infrequent and do not seem to represent a pattern, you can do nothing better than to simply accept them and view they as evidence of the essential humanity of both you and your student.
In other words – the occasional difficult day with a student? Don’t sweat it!
