4. Tutor/student combinations vary in quality

 

Don't make the mistake of believing that every tutor-student combination is a good one. If you find yourself in a situation with a student which you find frustrating - you can usually tell this by the frustration expressed by the student - don't be afraid to gracefully look to change places with another available tutor. You will be doing both yourself and your student a favor.

 

Be sure to let the student know that the other tutor may be able to explain things better. This helps remove any sense of blame for not understanding away from the student. It also helps convey to the student that the proposed change does not reflect a negative attitude towards him or her on your part.
