Welcome/Tutor Training Home
Page
Welcome to the new PVCC LSC Tutor Training Home Page! Tutor training
provides new tutors with first hand experience as a student while
they are attaining the required training (Level I). The tutor
training is designed with opportunities for tutors to explore
areas of their interest while learning the basic Do's & Don'ts
of tutoring. Tutor training through PVCC will provide tutors with
theory, resources, experiences, assignments, and a change to share
thier unique insights, experience, and knowledge with other tutors
and staff in the LSC.
As tutoring supports instruction and learning, the LSC is offering
training as a credit course (EDU102 #4056). The credit
course: EDU102 - Tutor Training Seminar (1 credit) will
transfer as an elective to the Arizona Universities of ASU &
NAU (not UA) - see 2005-06
Course Equivalency Guide. The training course competencies
include the "Techniques, methods, and approaches of tutoring,
history, function, and services of the various referral services
available on campus and in the community." See
MCCCD's Course Description for EDU102. The tutor training
is grounded in research and theories in constructivism, metacognition,
and learning. PVCC offers three levels of training for tutors.
