PVCC MAT Role 1999-2000
We have had much discussion over the last two
years and the role or vision of MAT is a work in progress. That said, there
is definitely a feeling that MAT has two very distinct roles at PVCC:

To provide policy group updates and information
on deliberations, negotitations, and anything which relates to MAT employees
as a group.

To support PVCC in its efforts to become a more
learning-centered college, which encompasses supporting its learners: students,
staff, and faculty as well as an organizational learning process.
Discussions have included:

Ways to better support MAT colleagues at PVCC
e.g. PVCC MAT Retreat, speakers, training designed for MAT
-
in their efforts to become better managers and
administrators through professional growth activities

provide opportunities for sharing, relationship-building,
and support networks
-
Ways to better support students e.g. scholarships
-
Ways to build stronger relationships with other
PVCC policy groups
-
Ways to build better community and community
service relationships
-
Ways to support the campus in its goals and
vision
