How PVCC Works!

Students' Top Ten Tips for Success at Paradise Valley Community College

This top ten list was compiled mostly by students just like you (with a little help from faculty and staff). Following the advice on this list will greatly enhance your chances for success.

1. Learn how to navigate through the college. Attend new student orientation (Passport to Paradise) and make sure you work with an academic advisor to plan your course schedule.

2. GO TO CLASS. Class attendance is a must!

3. STUDY. Plan to spend a minimum of two hours on homework for each hour you spend in class. Make sure you understand and follow the course syllabus. Take advantage of the free tutoring in the Learning Support Center.

4. Get to know your faculty. Visit them during office hours; talk with them outside of class.

5. Learn how to set academic, personal and career goals. Check out this cool web site on goal setting. If you need help with this, make an appointment with a counselor or academic advisor.

6. GET INVOVLED on campus. Contact Student Life to learn about all of the fun opportunities.

7. Take some risks and try new things, you might like it!

8. Get to know someone with a different background than your own.

9. Get to know well at least one staff member on campus.

10. If you need help funding your college education, see the staff in the financial aid office.
