Career choice, How to cope — direction
 The Counseling office can help students in their career and educational goals.
Amount of time spent on homework
 Students should plan on spending about 2 hours on homework for every hour spent in class.
Class requirements
 Check out the class schedules for course prerequisites before you register.
Financial Aid (scholarship requirements)
 The Financial Aid office is an excellent source of information on scholarships and applying for Financial Aid.
How to write a summary
 The Writing Center is available to help students with English writing assignments
How to use a computer
 Don't be afraid to ask for help in the Computer Commons; PVCC does offer beginner courses on using computers.
Time management/ prioritize, study habits
 College is a whole new ballgame! New students should take advantage of the services offered through the Learning Support Center (free tutoring, workshops, and study skills sessions)!
How to take the basics before getting into your major
 Advising will be able to help you choose the right classes for your major!

Costs/tuition
 A great education at a low cost! (vs a state 4-year college)
READ the syllabus
 The syllabus has important information on assignments, due dates, tests, attendance and grading policies, the instructors name, office hours and phone number or email address.
Lastly, remember:
  Pass the class the first time
  Get to know your instructors
  Budget your time wisely
  Cheating will get you nowhere!
  Intense writing classes are more than an hour
  Get organized!
  Computer commons are for working, not for playing!
